GME is a VHF/UHF radio, emergency beacon, and antenna manufacturer with a 60-year history of delivering to Australia's commercial and consumer sectors. GME started exploring Defence in 2019, engaging ADROITA to develop a Defence Strategy for their business, recognising the forecast growth in the Defence sector in Australia.
ADROITA assessed GME’s capability and identified that while Defence is unlikely to buy off-the-shelf GME products, it does have:
- On-shore manufacturing capability for RF systems
- Radiofrequency and software design engineering capability in Sydney, NSW
- Intellectual Property ownership of RF systems designs
- The ability to rapidly prototype electronics components
The strategy ADROITA developed aligned GME with Defence Sovereign Industrial Capability Priorities, creating new revenue streams, and unlocking work with global supply chain programs of key prime contractors. GME also conducted design and prototyping with a critical partner and has signed its first multi-million-dollar Defence contract in the C4 EDGE program
